I also requested Commodore Church to despatch a gun-boat to the spot where it was thought the pirates had first landed in case any piece of wreckage could be discovered. The Commodore did this, and Her Majesty's Steamer "Ling Feng" left Hongkong for this purpose on the morning of the 12th of December. She returned to Hong Kong on the evening of the 14th December 1890.
